Young Birders Welcomes New Leader

Illinois Young Birders welcomes Steve Bayer to a leadership position within the organization. Steve will work closely with Josh Engel to provide engaging opportunities for young birders throughout our state. We would also like to thank Matthew Cvetas for his leadership over the last several years. Matthew will stay on in an advisory position for this next year.

Steve is a teacher at the Science & Arts Academy in Des Plaines, IL, and he is thrilled to carry his passion for inspiring and educating young individuals to the Illinois Young Birders. He participates in numerous volunteer opportunities related to birding and environmental efforts, such as bird monitoring for Cook County and the Bird Conservation Network, and joining local bird counts (CBC and SBC) as often as possible. Steve is looking forward to seeking meaningful, exciting new experiences for the Illinois Young Birders and broadening the network of young birders throughout Illinois.
