Cranes, Cranes, and more Cranes!

Join us on an all day excursion to the Indiana lake front and Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area.

We’ll meet in the parking lot of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore – Lake View Beach at 7:30 a.m. There we will scan Lake Michigan for birds, including Red-throated and Common Loons, Black, White-winged, and Surf Scoters, and possibly jaegers.

From there, we will continue to bird in the area until lunch.

After lunch, we will meet at Subway in Medaryville, IN, around 2:30 p.m. By 3:00 p.m., we’ll sign in at the self-service check station near the Goose Pasture Viewing Area (no fee) of Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area. There are signs on the road for the station as you approach the viewing area. After signing in, we will head to the observation deck until sunset, where we hope to see thousands of Sandhill Cranes and perhaps the endangered Whooping Crane!
